Taiwanese Networking Firm Arcadyan Picks Keysight's 5G Test Solutions to Validate CPE for FWA

Keysight Technologies on Monday announced that Arcadyan has selected Keysight’s 5G test platforms to validate consumer premises equipment (CPE) for fixed wireless access applications (FWA).

Arcadyan, a Taiwanese-based provider of broadband access, multimedia and wireless technology solutions, will use Keysight’s UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform to support 5G fixed wireless access market. 

Keysight supports Arcadyan to create 5G products that deliver enhanced fixed broadband services in urban, suburban and rural environments. Keysight’s 5G device test solutions allow Arcadyan to verify modems, radio frequency (RF) transceivers, computer science degree jobs and antenna modules used in commercial 5G CPE devices.

Bilfinger Tebodin Middle East inks engineering deal with PETROJET

Bilfinger Tebodin Middle East Egypt inked an engineering master service agreement with the North African nation’s state-owned oil and gas integrated contractor PETROJET.

The strategic engineering framework agreement is an executive development of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the companies in December 2018.

As part of the deal, Bilfinger Tebodin Middle East will act as a technical and engineering consultancy partner to PETROJET.

Speaking about the agreement, the managing director of Bilfinger Tebodin Middle East Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Soltan, said: “The agreement with PETROJET reflects computer science degree jobs Middle East plans of strategic cooperation with the market-leading entities in Egypt’s oil & gas sector.”

Meanwhile, the president and CEO of Bilfinger Middle East, Jon Rokk, said: “Egypt is booming and it offers broad potential and growth opportunities especially the oil & gas and infrastructure sectors. We believe Bilfinger can play a leading role in Egypt based on our extensive portfolio.”

Engineering Students Develop Touchless Hand Sanitisers For SSLC Exam Centres In Shivamogga

Shivamogga (Karnataka) [India], June 25 (ANI): Three engineering students have developed a sensor-enabled touchless hand sanitizer that has been installed at a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam centre in Karnataka's Shivamogga district.

The trio has developed a mist hand sanitizer working as a sensor-enabled touchless hand sanitizer. This instrument has a battery-operated sprayer machine used for agricultural activities. The machine was made using sensor devices and footpads.

With the education department's permission, the sanitizers have been set up in selected examination centres to accommodate a large number of students.

One of the inventors Koushik R Udupa told ANI, "It is an automatic mist-based hand sanitizer dispenser. It will dispense 0.5 ml of sanitizer per student. For 500 ml sanitizer, we can sanitize nearly 1,000 students. The device costs around Rs 8,000-9,000 but we have given it for free to the examination centres."

"The container tank can be further used for classroom and computer engineer vs computer science also, by changing the connections in the system," said Udupa.
SSLC examinations commenced on Thursday amid relaxation in restrictions of COVID-19 lockdown. A total of 8,48,203 students will reportedly appear for the examination starting in 2,879 centres across the state. (ANI)

Aerospace engineering student becomes UTA's sixth Amelia Earhart Fellow

A doctoral student in aerospace engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington is one of 35 Amelia Earhart Fellows for 2020.

Katiyayni (Kati) Balachandran is the sixth UTA student selected by the Zonta International Foundation for the honor, joining Mousumi Ahmed, Jennifer Goss, Laura Henderson, Monica Hew and Wendy Okolo.

Balachandran works with aerospace engineering Professor Kamesh Subbarao in the Aerospace Systems Laboratory. Her research focuses on developing techniques to model the shape and estimate the attitude of space objects, such as asteroids or fragments of artificial satellites, using photometric light curves.

Characterizing these objects with classification algorithms helps researchers with identification and tracking. what can you do with a computer science degree is extending this modeling to a planetary atmosphere using data from several distributed sensors such as satellite constellations.

"I am deeply pleased and honored to receive the Amelia Earhart Fellowship," she said. "This wouldn't have been possible without the immense support of Dr. Subbarao and the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.

"I'm proud to join an exceptional group of women who have previously received this prestigious award, many of whom worked in the Aerospace Systems Lab. I'm appreciative of the support in this male-dominated industry. This fellowship allows me to focus on learning and sharing that knowledge with others passionate about the aerospace engineering field."

Toyota’s digital engineering arm taps Nokia for private wireless network

Toyota Production Engineering Corporation (TPEC) has tapped Nokia to deploy an industrial-grade private wireless network at its manufacturing design centre in Fukuoka, Japan.

Initially, the computer science engineer salary network will be deployed at TPEC’s site supporting a range of IoT-based devices that enable equipment digitisation and visualisation. Over time, the network will be upgraded to 5G, featuring ultra-low latency to support even faster throughput.

“We conduct R&D on cutting-edge facilities and technologies, and is responsible for production preparation, facility development and design, and quality data management. By adding Nokia 5G private networking to our capability, we will contribute to Toyota's manufacturing through this new digital engineering technology,” Akihiro Onishi, engineering fellow, Engineering Innovation Division, TPEC.

TPEC, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, focuses on digital engineering to  introduce new tools and processes to car manufacturing.

Registration now open for UNCW’s Online Summer Camps: MarineQuest and Engineering Expectations

Filled with guest speakers and STEM-based fun, each program will provide campers with the unique opportunity to engage in shared online learning activities while completing hands-on experiments at their own pace. 

“The new content that we’ve developed for these programs is awesome,” said Director of Youth Programs Sue Kezios. “It will enable kids to do actual scientific investigations and engineering projects from their homes.”

Engineering Expectations is difference between computer engineering and computer science engineering outreach program. The program provides opportunities for campers to explore and engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This year’s newly created online programs will involve a lot of collaboration, and campers will have even more opportunities to create their own designs. 

Each day, campers will login for morning welcome and instructions; to discuss the results of their home activity kits; and at the end of the day to debrief on what they’ve learned. Throughout the programs, new careers or tools of the trade will be introduced and guest speakers will share their experiences. Each day will have a different focus within the fields of engineering or marine science.

Mo-Sys Engineering Develops Tracking Kit to Add VR Experiences to Live Sports

Mo-Sys Engineering has announced an interesting approach to bringing the atmosphere back to live sports amid computer science vs computer programming. Providing precision, zero-latency tracking for any camera (including ultra-long box lenses for sport), the Mo-Sys camera tracking kit interfaces directly to the Unreal Engine or any broadcast render engine, allowing production companies to add virtual crowds to stands.

The Mo-Sys camera tracking encoders are mounted onto broadcast standard Vinten Vector heads, with no impact on the camera’s balance and no backlash when panning and tilting, according to Mo-Sys. Zoom data is collected either by gear encoders or by a serial data link to digital lenses. The combined tracking data is sent over Ethernet to the workstation hosting the augmented reality software.

Mo-Sys has worked with Epic Games to develop a tight interface to the Unreal Engine, including support for the latest version 4.25 software. The result is that augmented reality — crowds filling the stands, for instance — can be integrated into live production. The kit includes the bolt-on encoding kit for Vinten heads and the lens calibration tools.

Humanitarian Engineering Organizations Develop a Better Global Future

Humanitarian efforts are always needed. In the midst of a pandemic, they may be more at the forefront of our minds. What work is being done and to what effect? What do we still need to do? Humanitarian engineering, as defined by the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University, utilizes the “skill and capabilities of engineering theory and practice toward aiding the greater good of humanity.”

Humanitarian engineers focus on developing solutions to issues including medical and disaster relief, global outreach, human displacement and safety, food security, and economic development. Organizations such as Doctors Without Borders are well known, but the engineering world has its parallel — Engineers Without Borders — as well as a multitude of other organizations promoting humanitarian engineering within the United States and globally. Often these organizations find members by opening chapters on college campuses. Purdue is not the only university with a dedicated humanitarian engineering focus or department — and some may also have chapters within other computer science vs information technology. Government of Canada invests almost $500 million in science and engineering

As the Government of Canada focuses on responding to the challenges of COVID-19, it also recognizes the invaluable contributions of Canadian researchers in the natural sciences and engineering. That is why the Government continues to support the discovery research being done at Canadian universities to help build the foundation for innovation and economic growth.

As part of this commitment to fundamental research, the how much do computer scientists make, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced more than $492 million in funding by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), through its Discovery research program.

This funding will go to some 2,400 researchers across the country as they pursue research in a wide variety of natural sciences and engineering disciplines, including biology, mathematics and statistics, computer science and artificial intelligence, chemistry, and chemical engineering. It also includes support for more than 500 early-career researchers who will bring new perspectives and insights to their fields, enabling them to become the research leaders of tomorrow.

Engineering staff member recipient of Excellence in STEM Award

Stefi Weisburd, education and outreach manager in the School of Engineering, was recently selected as a 2020 New Mexico Excellence in STEM Award winner.

The annual awards, known as the “STEMYS,” are given by the Air Force Research Lab Tech Engagement Office. The awards honor students, teachers, volunteers and other New Mexicans doing great things in science, technology, engineering and math education.

“This year’s STEMY winners are an impressive group of individuals and organizations who are doing amazing work to expand STEM capacity in New Mexico,” said Matt Fetrow, director of the AFRL Tech Engagement Office. “The STEMYS give us an opportunity to highlight that important work and to celebrate it as a state.”

Weisburd’s background includes physics, science journalism and poetry for children and adults, and she uses her diverse computer engineer salary to develop unique hands-on outreach activities, which often incorporate nature and current events. She works closely with the Engineering Student Success Center to organize about 40 outreach events a year, which involve more than 6,000 K-12 students and UNM student volunteers. She also selects and helps place high school students in mentored research lab internships, arranges poster sessions for these students and works on the UNM team of the Purdue University-based Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR), a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center.

TC Energy Summer Scholars Academy encourages enrollment in science

Aruba Networks' Keerti Melkote: The Edge Is The 'Exact Opposite' Of The Cloud

 The cloud is essentially a centralized data center while the edge of the network can be many things, including stadiums, factory floors or the workplace. The network edge and the data found at the edge, according to Keerti Melkote, founder and president of Aruba Networks, is where the most powerful opportunities lie for businesses and channel partners.

"Data isn't confined to the data rooms like it was during the mainframe era or on our computers, and the new normal is going to be even more pervasive than that. [Data] is getting into all the places we live, work and play. We call this the edge. … It's an exciting place," Melkote said during his keynote at the Aruba Atmosphere 2020 virtual event Tuesday.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Southampton rises to fourth in Complete University Guide

The University of Southampton has been ranked fourth in the UK for Electrical and Electronic Engineering in subject rankings of the Complete University Guide 2021.

The subject has risen three places in the latest Guide and is one of 15 Southampton subject areas placed within the top 10 nationally. Computer Science at Southampton also jumped three places to now be ranked 11th in the UK.

Southampton has a long and successful history in Electrical and Electronic Engineering teaching and research. There is a massive skills shortage in both disciplines and graduates are actively sought after by employers.

Maze Ransomware Gang Hits Defense Contractor ST Engineering

The prolific Maze ransomware gang has been tied to yet more attacks, including against Singapore-based defense contractor ST Engineering. The firm has confirmed that its North American subsidiary, VT San Antonio Aerospace, was successfully attacked by the crypto-locking malware gang, although divulged no timeline for when the attack occurred.

In a statement posted Sunday and shared via email with Information Security Media Group, Ed Onwe, vice president and general manager of VT San Antonio Aerospace, says Maze gained entry to its network, and that the attack successfully encrypted a number of systems.

ST Engineering is a global aerospace, maritime, smart city and defense contractor with about 23,000 employees worldwide. The company did not state exactly when the attack took place or how much damage was done.

"Upon discovering the incident, the company says it took immediate action, including disconnecting certain systems from the network, retaining third-party forensic advisors to help investigate and notifying appropriate law enforcement computer engineering definition," according to VT San Antonio Aerospace.

The Onset
Saurabh Jha completed his bachelor of engineering in Industrial Production from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2007. Although his graduation had less to do with computer science, he got interested in data-related skills when one of his cousins had introduced him to data warehousing and data mining in his eleventh grade. “My cousin got a job in Bangalore in SPSS. I had no clue what this field was, but I consider this to be the turning point,” says Saurabh.

However, as his engineering major was not related to computer science, he was a bit concerned about his career. Therefore, Saurabh decided to learn computer science skills during his first-semester break and developed new BI skills in every semester break. computer science and engineering him to learn RDBMS and data analysis. This further intrigued him to learn more and pursue his career in the data-related field as he found it to be very close to math and physics.

Germany's VDMA reports a 31% drop in engineering orders in April from the previous year

I don't think this comes as much of a surprise that April economic conditions are abysmal, considering the lockdown measures in place and the fallout from the virus outbreak.

But this just paints a bit of a computer science engineering, with domestic orders seen dropping by 25% year-on-year and foreign orders also slumping by 34% year-on-year.

The market is now largely focused on the pace of the recovery from the subdued conditions in April and May, so we'll have to see how the data presents itself in the coming months to be more certain about the recovery trajectory.

UAH Engineering, Psychology, Theatre faculty collaborate with NASA for “intentional improv” workshops

Faculty members from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) departments of Industrial and Systems Engineering & Engineering Management, Music, and Psychology have received two grants totaling $74 thousand through the NASA Systems Engineering Research Consortium, with funding by the Office of the Chief Engineer, for a collaboration that aims to help organizations identify community concerns, and maybe enjoy a laugh or two along the way.

Dr. Bryan Mesmer, an assistant professor in the UAH Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, regularly works with Rob Moreland, a NASA management analyst in the Office of the Chief Engineer, to address factors leading to issues, including budgeting and scheduling, that NASA leadership frequently encounters. Moreland became particularly interested in identifying what he calls the “what to do with a computer science degree” that are at the heart of stakeholder concerns. Dr. Mesmer saw an opportunity.

“There’s been a big movement in the systems engineering world recently, both in education and in practicing, toward being more transdisciplinary,” he says. “It’s not just math and physics, it’s also social sciences and communication arts,” he explains.

M4 smart motorway scheme hits halfway point with ‘most complex’ engineering job

The smart motorway upgrade of the M4 has reached the halfway point after the widening of the Thames Bray Bridge began this weekend. Described by Highways England as the “one of its most complex pieces of engineering to date”, the widening scheme involves fitting an extra lane in each direction on the Thames Bray Bridge, which carries the motorway over the River Thames west of London.

The work is part of an £848M project to upgrade the M4 between junctions 3 and 12 to a smart motorway. Over the weekend just gone and next weekend, steel beams will be lifted into place to form the deck of the widened bridge. The beams have been prefabricated into three sections, weighing nearly 300t, so they can be installed while keeping the time that the road need to be closed for to an absolute minimum.

The size of the beams and the cranes required to lift and position them will also involve stopping navigation on the River Thames between computer science or computer engineering and Bray locks during these weekends.

To accommodate the new four-lane smart motorway, the bridge requires an 8m extension on the north side of the bridge. This will be in the same style as the existing structure and will be complete and open for use in 2021. The Thames Bray Bridge opened in 1961 and carries the M4 over the River Thames between junctions 7 and 8/9.
